Responsible gambling - Responsible Gaming - Stop and Step

Responsible gambling

Recommended Posts

I am getting really concerned about your lack of responsible gambling messages on your videos. Can you please take note that people watching these videos do not have £1000 every day. You say I'm confrontational but how is expressing concerns about responsible gambling and asking is it affiliation money confrontational?

I think I must be missing something here as I’m not sure what the confrontational part is, but StopandStep does have gamble aware messages in his videos from time to time and also in the description.

I would have to dispute that the lack of these messages contributes to people gambling beyond their means. I’ve watched his videos for years and I remained a low roller at 10p/20p stakes. I certainly couldn’t afford to spend £1k a day which is why I don’t. And sadly the people that do go beyond their means probably would do regardless of any message in his videos.

100%  with BlindHaze on this. Been watching Stop and Step Videos for close to 5 years. I have never felt the urge to bet more than my 20p-40p Stake or deposit more money.

I feel he shows the real realities of gambling better than any other streamer, that I know of . Not afraid to post a £1000 bonus hunt that returns 1 bonus and pays crap. Watch him blow £400 in the arcade in a matter of minutes, even when he bought a whole pack of scratch cards ( least favourite upload ) that hardly returned anything, always honest and doesn't try to deceive his viewers.  Never have I heard him try to push a slot or casino onto his viewers. If he makes a few quid through affiliation then good luck to him.

He seems to enjoy what he does most of the time and comes across as a genuine bloke. Has had a good week and a half online and all of a sudden he's irresponsible.

Keep up the excellent content Darren  👍

Gamble aware messages should be there simply because it's the right thing to do but in all honesty how many people read them and actually take notice of them.? Personally I think the most important message streamers should put across is that help is available out there and show all the relevant contact details BEFORE AND AFTER their stream and videos. A very important thing that the viewer should be made aware of is streamers bonuses, most of these people get bonuses on a daily basis, this helps towards them stream if not every day then on a very regular basis. There is nothing untoward about this but it leaves a very sour taste in the mouth because its not a fair representation of the average slot player who only gets a bonus on the day they sign up to the casino. I've been watching stopandstep for a couple of years now and I couldn't tell you if he does it to make living or just for fun but he's 100% the least "in your face" you tuber or streamer.

You've got the likes of Roshtein with his €1 million plus balances and he is patently aiming his style at the young and impressionable "and somewhat dim-witted audience" if you ask me. He's very entertaining but I would, also add lethal in his projection. I was watching a Chipmonkz live stream a couple of months or so ago and someone in the chat remarked if it was wise to be gambling with such high stakes and could he afford it. Mr Chipmonkz produced a box of collectable cards from across the desk, waved them in front of the camera and said I've just paid 20k for this box of cards so I think I can afford to play at these stakes. I thought that was disgusting and he just made himself look a right pratt.

I'm not defending Darren just stating a fact that of all the youtubers and, streamers he's surely the least volatile of all of them. I've never even heard him swear, he just puts the poop emoji on the screen.

I would challenge you to watch half a dozen or so different streamers or youtubers including Stopandstep and then come back and put them in order of volatility and toxicity. Earlier today and on quite a few occasions I put up pics of my wins and I do wonder sometimes if I should or not. I don't do it to be big-headed or clever but to share my delight of the win and maybe show people that haven't had much luck lately that it can change because that's all it is, luck. There's no skill involved in playing slots but showing how you play them needs a hell of a lot of thought.

Also I ditto Blind Hazel's comment, I don't see why you should feel awkward or confrontational for airing your concerns. 😁

No that's fair enough guys I totally accept what you are saying. I actually don't have anything against stop and step and I accept what you say about other affiliates. I think I became disappointed..... But may I add with no proof...... That I always thought stop and step waa not an affiliate and I was genuinely asking questions as I felt £1000 a day was just unrealistic to many players and it's not a true reflection of slot play. Thanks for taking the time to reply..... I see Darren does talk about responsible gambling in his video summary I just never saw it on any actual videos if ye get me. Thanks for the replies. Darren knows I have been watching his videos for years I just felt my points were not being taken on board at all and have now been banned from commenting on videos. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

TBH I object more to the gambling advertising on the TV / Radio as you are not thinking about gambling. You actively have to seek out a S&S vid.

I strongly dislike the two horse tips on RADIO 4's flagship Today programme. Just no need for it...I bet if you asked them they would say it's "just a bit of fun".

@Mentholdan I usually refer to her as Ms Haze but maybe Blind Hazel in future! 😉

If I ever suffer from a case of cognitive dissonance, it’s with regards to bonuses. I only regularly watch StopandStep’s videos and I would say he showcases the slots rather than promotes the casino. If a slot’s crap, he will call it crap and if it pays well or has potential he will say he will revisit it again at some point - just as you or I would if we were playing. And if you only have a PP account and not a Casimba account, you can probably find a lot of these games on both sites.

To make the videos, he needs to use an online casino of some sort so if someone offers him bonuses to use their online casino, then why wouldn’t he? It is in effect something for nothing as he’d be playing anyway. And if you’re going to play an online casino, why not switch from say PP to Casimba using his link - after all, the only major difference would be he gets a percentage of your wagering rather than all of it going to the casino.

The reason I’m torn about this (apart from the utterly unrealistic streamers mentioned earlier in this thread) is that’s the exact same argument used by the tobacco industry when they could still advertise. They weren’t trying to get more people to smoke, just to switch to their brand…. Although the main difference is that the adverts were forced down your throat during the ad break on Coronation Street, not something you need to hunt down on YouTube to watch!

I would like to add that I have no idea about any affiliation that StopandStep has and the above is just pure speculation - hopefully no aspersions cast! 😁

100% agree on the quote about how many people read the messages about gambling. When i worked in the bookies I can guarantee very few read the posters even when the Responsible Gambling Week ones were in the window.

Reminds me of the ‘please drink responsibly’ signs that are up at 9am in the local Wetherspoons….

People dont (shouldn't) need messages telling them what to do at every step of their lives.

In any event, the people who are going to do their rocks on the machines will do it regardless of any message presented to them before, during, or after their session.

All it does it make things more difficult for those who don't have a problem. Problem gamblers will find a way no matter what.

If I said what I really thought about most slot streamers on here Blind Haze would give me a warning and delete the post. 😁 Especially one in particular who shall remain nameless, "guesses on a postcard please"
