What does a Moderator do

I've asked recently but as yet no reply, can somebody please tell me "in full" exactly what a Moderator does? Forgive my ignorance.

I’m a moderator for Darren and other streamers ( not promoting any other streamers )

basically during a live stream they can either time out or even ban anyone on chat who’s we think or the streamer think is being out of order

mostly people get irate because of affiliation reasons and sometimes people being racist which I won’t tolerate

also we can add links to chat basically promoting a casino although I don’t agree with it

the trolls only usually appear on YouTube and very really appear on twitch tv

usually I give them a warning if it continues a 5 minute timeout and finally a ban which is actually a waste of time because they just open another YouTube account

Moderators are a bit like stewards at football matches....

Utter jobsworths who think they’re Judge Dredd as they can charge, try and execute you on a stream or forum without you having any right of appeal 🤣🤣🤣

Im sure step is nothing like that of course and is a pillar of fairness and justice 👍

I might getting a warning or a ban for the above 😮

Basically a moderator can delete comments, ban people, post little codes that do stuff in live streams, that kind of thing. When I used to do live streams, I had coins that people could play with and were automatically awarded every 20 minutes or so, moderators could award people extra coins. If a troll comes along and starts annoying people, a Mod can block their comments. They are like the police, except you'll see moderators.

Their names are blue in the community chats and usually have a spanner next to their names.

There are also a few moderators on the YouTube channel (Stepandstop is one but I don't think he knows). They can hide a comment and it will go into a 'held for review' folder, I can then look at it and reinstate it or permanently delete it. It's very rare for a moderator to delete a comment on the channel (maybe 2 a month). They just keep things friendly for everyone.
