I had gambled for over 10 years highs an lows,I said to my best friend I'm going to get a big win soon an when I do I'm going to gamstop an said this will happen an it did,  I won 5,000 pound an what did I do gambled the whole bloody lot back this happened just after Christmas, I still feel gutted disgusted with myself I've never told anyone about this they would think I'm barking mad,I admit my gambling addiction was completely out of control, I'm in debt for it gambling every last penny that I had,not buying essentials to get my fix, I've had loads of decent wins but always put it back but this was my biggest ever, after gambling this all back I gave myself a good talking too enough is enough I said an I joined gamstop I'm now paying off all my debts an will be out of debt by the end of July, I'm not saying it's easy I crave the buzz still but I'm keeping busy even though we're in lock down I'm catching up on things indoors,I wanted to share this an it's a weight lifted off my shoulders, this is how bad gambling can get you an grip you an I never thought in a million years it would be me talking on a gambling forum an saying this is what has happened in my life, gambling is a sad an lonely excistant well it was for me anyway.

well, july you will have no debts and theres many, many people including myself that wish we could say that. mines heavily gambling related and i'm a long way out but theres always a finish line. I hope you've learnt hard from that loss that whatever amount you have will never be enough. its best to stay away from it all, and its not easy but you've done well now to get away from it so I hope you do stay away pal.

I think there will be loads of people that have done similar. When I joined Betfair over 10 years ago I found myself winning sums of between £500 and £1000 most days laying horses and betting on football games. Started with £1000 and at one stage my balance was just over £46000. Had a couple of bad days maybe losing about £4000 and started chasing - within about 7 days I lost every penny. Although I only effectively lost £1000 it took me months to get over it mainly because I kept thinking about what I could have bought or done with it. When I was winning the money I expected to keep on doing it and thought I would reach £100,000. Bad discipline was my down fall.

I'm actually a woman because you called me pal an yes I have learnt a very hard lesson I've got a five year ban on gamstop for online gambling but I've got to stay away from the rest of it after lock down casinos arcades an bookies that's my next hurdle, these are more controlled for me though I never take my bank card out with  me only cash this way I can't chase my losses.

It’s why 95% of punters fail mate, not that you can’t pick winners, it’s that you lack the discipline to remove emotion from the equation when losing, you want that money back so chase it. A true pro punter removes emotion and sees it as a business transaction and if it goes pear shaped they move on to the next “opportunity” and maintain their balance.
