Any advice

Hi guys so I managed to self exclude from the bookies in mid November as things were getting a bit out of control . Until recently I have been gamble free but last few weeks I’ve been going in playing the pub fruits . Lost £130 last night and these are way worse than fobts. Feel I’m trapped again . Cheers

I’m not sure if you go to the pub alone (I’ve been known to after work), but I’d recommend always arranging to meet someone there if you go for a beer. Sometimes the banality of flicking through BBC News for 5 minutes wears thin very quickly and you get bored, and some company can help you take your mind off it. Fruit machines are a lonely habit and you’re less likely to play them if you’re with a mate.

I found it worse. My ex friend made threats towards me to hand over some cash as he had none left. He said the jackpots are due. I didn't give him any.

Yes I love the fun of the arcade, 10p money mad martians. I am good at walking away from a fobt. I don't have any online accounts, I ignore them, there are too many online casinos offering free spins etc. I could easily be on them 24/7.

Bookies are not open 24 hours, 15 min time limits as covid lockdown ended were good. Casinos like merkur are 24/7 on UK high Streets, mainly in deprived towns too.

Have decided to self exclude again . Don’t know why I went back .funny thing is the sports betting I’m good at but fobts are a bloody disaster. Dropped about £300 this morning. Decided enough is enough.

Good luck to you, you’ve taken a look at the situation and taken action which is never an easy thing to do. At least with sports betting there’s an element of skill, the machines are pure chance and the odds are stacked against you. Sticking a tenner on the football every so often at least gives you 90 minutes of hope, the FOBTs can rob that from you in seconds!

A few things to remember:

Pub slots are worse RTP than online or bookies

Slot playing is a habit and like all habits the longer you refrain, the less of a habit they are

Next couple of months is an ideal time to concentrate on Cheltenham & Aintree festivals. With some discipline and skill should cost way less than pumping slots.

Same with roulette online for me. I can control slots betting at 20p per spin but roulette i get carried away with and all ready broke my promise by going on it again this year. DOH. I don't have a problem controlling the deposit but when I'm up I go straight to roulette and do £5 spins which is still way more then i like and when in tripple figures even more. I just wish you could exclude your self from certain games rather then exclude all together.

Thanks fellas sorry only replying now. Finally glad I’ve self excluded from them fobts . I agree if you could just exclude from them and have sports it would be better but I’ve realised I can’t be in a bookies near them . I’ve trialled last week giving my friend a few quid each week on his account for accas etc and seems to be working ok . Not getting carried away and know I can’t pump notes in like a shredder!!

If I’m going to gamble in arcades or bookies, l only take x amount of cash with me , that l know l can afford to lose, no cards, just hundred or two hundred pounds that way l can’t get hurt, gambling ok if you budget for it, and leave the rest of your cash & cards at home. What l take out to gamble l expect to lose most of it, I’ve learned never chase loses or get carried away playing for the bonus that never comes or when it does it rubbish
