I logged into one of my betting accounts today saying they wanted to chat to me about "safer gambling"

I belled them had a reasonable enough chat and an hour later im self excluded for a minimum of a year! My account with them was well down and i did lose my job due to covid which in hindsight i should have lied about. Now thats an option ive lost and with some open bets on the account that look certain to win its prob gonna be a pain in arse getting paid.

Basically are people supposed to lie when they get quizzed about "safer gambling"?

Because of the huge fines being levied on the casinos/sports books they have to be extra careful. The fines are often several million, so if anything comes up where they didn't take appropriate action they would probably be in for a bad time. When you mentioned you had lost your job I'm guessing they pretty much had no choice but to use some safer gambling tools, which in this case was a 12 month self-exclusion. I assume the open bets remain in play, have you asked them in their live chat? Which casino was it?

It was betvictor. Have had an account 20 years or so and theyve never given a monkeys before.

Asking questions that although its no big secret not overly comfortable answering like how do i fund my betting and other things that im like what the hell has that to do with them? On their site they wanted me to upload a wage slip proving income. Surely thats way over the top.

Open bets remain in play and 1 is literally certain and another is 50-50 and they just said il need to contact them directly. 

I didnt like betting with betvictor much but at same time i dont want my account closed. Had a decent run with some bookies last year and we all know when the restrictions are applied the accounts are not much use. Severely unimpressed as i placed a bet this morning which was fine and when i tried to place another this afternoon hit with all this crap.

If anything else like this comes up will deffo handle it differently. Thanks for responding.
