Data Security Risks in Gambling

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else worried that online gambling companies are asking for some very confidential financial data just like some banks do, but their staff are not vetted and regulated in the same way? My own experience is with MrQ and I am not at all confident my data is secure or that the staff are trained/qualified. I've started a petition on change.org as I think this needs to change. https://www.change.org/Regulategamblingcompanies If you are concerned like me that companies are withholding money until you share this very confidential data with them, please sign. Thanks.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I think it would be better aimed towards gambling companies not needing to ask for the massively intrusive information. Vetting people doesn’t always ensure their integrity, and when you think you’re calling your bank and will happily give all the information you have, you’re talking to an outsourced employee who’s on nigh on minimum wage. They don’t work for Barclays, Lloyds etc yet have all of your information.

I agree that they should ask for everything they need before you’re allowed to deposit, and not to delay withdrawal because they need more information. Surely the bigger risk is then accepting deposits, but bookies occasionally seem unwilling to pay out…. I wonder why that would be…..
