Tomorrow's racing

Recommended Posts

Well only one qualifier today but what a result, and the price of 3/1 was a nice bonus, I was expecting 7/4.

No qualifiers tomorrow but some big racing coming up this weekend.

The Derby on Saturday and the sole qualifier is Bangkok.

Five qualifiers tomorrow with two in the same race and a MASSIVE PRICED outsider in the Oaks.

Lah Ti Dar 3.10 Epsom. 7/2

SH Boom 4.30 Epsom. "Oaks" 100/1

Space Blues, 11/8 Happy Power 6/1 5.15 Epsom.

Blackheath 5.50 Epsom 8/1

Epsom is a unique Racecourse, the Derby and The Oaks are both run over a mile and a half. The Derby is for three year old colts and TheOaks is for three year old fillies. The first half mile is uphill then it's a long long left handed bend which takes them to the home straight of about half a mile. It's a very arduous trip for a three year old and to make things more tiring, the last 100 yards to the finish line is uphill which also slopes quite steeply from right to left, which causes tired horses to hang and wander off a true line, giving away valuable ground on the run to the winning post. The subsoil is mostly chalk, and when it rains heavily the water drains off of the slope quickly, giving a massive advantage to the horses running along the stands rail.

The sprint course is a straight 5 furlongs, all downhill until the final 100 yards, its the fastest sprint track IN THE WORLD. The big sprint race is the Dash, the race just before the Derby on Saturday.

Just in case you didn't know, all racehorses have their Birthday on the 1st of January, regardless of what day or month they were born. This is to make it easy to classify the horses when they run in races solely for their own age group. Every Thoroughbred descends In the male line from just THREE STALLIONS, The Byerley Turk, the Darley Arabian or the Godolphin Arabian. Diomed was the first ever Derby winner in 1780.

Thinking of owning a racehorse after the initial purchase of your horse, there are training fees, about £250 per week, silks, "your own unique colours" travelling fees, jockey fees, vets fees, dentist fees, blacksmith fees, entry fees, it goes on and on. A horse bought for £120.000 as a yearling was sold last week for £800. Its useless. An Arab syndicate paid £6 million for a yearling foal called Snaffi Dancer, it never raced, totally useless. The chances of buying a racehorse that pays its way is about the same as hitting three consecutive 100x bonuses on the slots.

One winner today, not a total disaster.

There are four qualifiers tomorrow.

Veracious 2.35 Epsom. 7/4

Gravistas 3.25 Musselburgh. 7/2

Mokaatil 3.45 Epsom. 20/1

Bangkok 4.30 Epsom Derby. 8/1

A £1 lucky 15 @ £15, would return about 5k. at current odds for all 4 winners.

One runner and one winner today, returned 7/1 but plenty of 10/1 and 9/1 available 5 mins. before the off.

A nice profit and the horse won very very easily in the end, should go back up in class and a sure fire winner again this season.
