Can't get my head around a few things

I'm having trouble trying to work a few things out they just don't add up basically. Let's start with The Bandit, I really enjoy his streams and he comes across as a decent bloke. He's not put any videos up on YouTube for about a month now. The last time he took a "sabbatical" he basically said he hadn't been in the mood lately a d just couldn't be arsed, not had the inclination to play. The bit I'm struggling with is that I've seen this guy do double or nothing gambles "many times" on 25, 30 and 35k wins. This style of gambling doesn't  suggest to me that he's the kind of person who "can't be arsed". I just don't get it.??

The other thing that's causing me to scratch an itch is this... Hideous hit 67k on a 2euro bonus a couple of nights ago, Bandit hot over 120k on a 6 euro jammin jars bonus a little while back and Rocknroller hit a huge huge win on Danger not too long ago either. Hideous is the most frequent streamer, normally 2 or 3 times a week, Bandit is averaging once a month, not too sure about Rock roller?? But anyway 3 streamers have hit life changing amounts live on stream yet this forum which is open to potentially 1000s of people and I'm pretty sure I've only seen 1 big win posted on here at around 5k???

Lastly, if Hideous 67k win is legit. he says he can only withdraw the money in increments of 10k over time. I believe as yet his first 10k withdrawal has not gone through, "his win" came on Leo Vegas BTW. Which basically sends the message to all potential players that you can lose as much as you like at any given time but if you win you can only get the money bit by bit over a period of time. 😭😭😭😭😭

Firstly, I think it would probably be safe to say that these streamers are not playing with their own money. It's either demo money, or it's the casino money, so effectively it's the same thing.

Secondly, I signed up at Leovegas about 4 years ago, and they did have the "lose as much as you like in one go, but only withdraw in 25k increments" rule at that time, and now by the looks of it you can only withdraw 10k a month. Imagine winning £250,000 - it would take two years to withdraw it! Utterly pointless betting there!

I think the Jackpot King on PP is about £4.5m now. That’d take over 37 years to withdraw, and will be massively eroded by inflation….

Close your account after winning. Surely they have to pay it all then instead of making you wait. Fairly sure you could get gambling commission involved too saying it tempts you to gamble more than you are comfortable with. GC look like they've been flexing their muscles the last few years so might fancy getting rid of another shady business practice

It’s an interesting point, but I always think people need to realise these guys are promoting casinos through affiliate links. My understanding of these links is that the affiliate gets x% of a players losses who sign up thru their link.

No doubt this can generate hefty money if you’re getting enough folk to sign up. I also agree with @Mentholdan that at times they are either playing in demo mode or more likely in a live mode where the casino has deposited the funds but is non withdrawable and the streamer gets a payment for hosting the stream.

some of the play is nonsense, I like bandit but his play on Reel King is just silly and I generally skip it now as I find it boring.

I believe people need to remember that far from being the ‘punters pal’ as they make out, they do in actual fact want you to lose and lose big because that’s what gets them money.

I often wonder what would happen to these guys if the government outlawed affiliates and/or took down gambling streams. Some of these guys are outright addicts and I suspect they would quickly lose everything they have.

I like the FOBT streams as I don’t think you can fake them, although 7 neighbours does my head in at times as you can never tell if he’s up or down as he’s playing multiple terminals and hides balance etc. So you just have to take his word for it….. His chat is pretty good though 😂

Agree with most of what you wrote Kingofthenorth. Money is being made through affiliate links and of course You-Tube viewing.  Every time a new video is put up it generates some cash plus the older videos probably get active again. I'm not sure how affiliation works but it must be on turnover, not losses that would be totally unethical. Although I agree with the sentiment as most "affiliates" persuaded to join will lose.

I prefer StopandStep because it is one of the few that does fobt's which is closer to how I gamble. The bandit I enjoy his lower stakes videos, but once he is £5 and above it's  cloud-cuckoo-land, fantasy and actually hard to watch. The Reel King stuff is boring and just stresses me out. Hideous slots has become the same over the last year as the stakes have gone up. TBF I think he does sometimes state he is playing bonus money etc.

The problem with all streamers, is they understandably compress videos to cut out the boring stuff. The danger for the viewer is the subconscious training of our brains, that slot gambling is like that. Whereas in reality it is 95% boring grind and 5% exciting bonus if we are lucky.

This video frightened me, even though most of us know about risk/reward and brain plasticity:

The frightening bit, is most of us are there with the physical reasons we can't easily change our behaviour should we want to. It's fine if when one can keep control, but we are always a short step away from chasing on a bad day.

Regarding affiliate links. I think it is 30% of the profit the casino makes on losses rather than 30% of a player losses. Obviously some of the losses will end up forming part of the winnings of another customer. Then there are general operating costs, licensing rights for games based on TV and film etc etc.

Still making money but it's not as straightforward as I sign up deposit and lose 100 and 30 goes to the affiliate.

No, I didn’t think it was, I was just putting a generic example out there.

The point remains the same though (it’s also why I’ve never used an affiliate link), a gambler losing money to feed the addiction of another gambler is just wrong, but that is what is effectively happening.

these streamers have it sussed, a fair few of them are gambling addicts but have found a way to get someone else to pay for their addiction. In a perverse way I say fair play, well done to them.

No I’m not jealous at all 😏😏😏

Looking forward to watching this, was gutted for Merson to read he’d relapsed during lockdown and list a fair wedge.

I can control my horse/football punting but it’s the FOBT that’s my  ruin and I try not to play them but sometimes I find it very difficult to walk by 😞

Completely agree about the editing, I’ve always preferred watching it warts and all as it’s more relatable. Guess I prefer watching the match live than the highlights on MOTD….

The Jackpot King style jackpots are usually paid out...in one go...by the provider (i.e. Blueprint) rather than the casino operator

Are they? I didn’t know that. Hopefully one day I can find out and prove you right though 😉

Only once have I ever got close to a 5 figure payout, mainly because I play lowest stakes. I got the Megapays feature on Millionaire and was 2 jacks away from £40k or so. As it happened I was still over the moon with the £1500 mini or midi pot (to date my biggest single win) as I was only playing 40p play!

The one that really gets my goat is when streamers get donations from viewers for a charity that the streamer is sponsoring. I know Nick slots and Chipmonkz have both done this in the past, maybe they still do? Donating to charity is brilliant but when a viewer sends money to the streamer via a message in the chat, eg, "hi guys I've just donated £10 to you for your sponsored charity". When the money is all collected and passed on to the charity, it seems as if all the money has been donated by the streamer, even though they may add a message like "from us and our viewers".  The viewer can just donate direct to the charity, in fact its probably easier.

The cynic in me says the streaming channel is looking for Brownie points for being so generous. Making affiliate money that comes indirectly from their viewers and then accepting donations for their sponsored charity from the same viewers just seems like a double kick in the bollocks to me.

In today's Chipmonkz video he says he doesn't understand the haters and that he's even had threats to himself and his family. People who make these threats should be punished, I agree to that, its disgusting. He went on to say that he would love the chance to sit down with people who have issues with him and / or his streaming content and discuss it with them over a coffee in a calm sensible way and he's sure people would see things differently. A while back during a live stream of his I made a valid, sensible and reasonable point in the chat, no bad language or threat, just a reasonable question, the message never appeared in the chat, it seems I got chat banned for my point, which I deemed to be reasonable, peaceful, non aggressive.??

I watch All slot streamers videos on YouTube, even the ones I don't like. I'm not some fucking saddo lone ranger type, I just like to make sure what they're putting out there is, well honest-ish, I suppose.

During todays live stream Chipmonkz was doing £45 spins on Montezuma I'm pretty sure it was, I can't exactly quote him unless I watch again "not" but he said something like, Don't you people at home copy this, we're only doing this because we had a win earlier, he does it often and says "we play these stakes so you don't have to"  That was a quote BTW.
