LADBROKES BRANCH CLOSURE - General Discussion - Stop and Step

LADBROKES BRANCH CLOSURE

Stepandstop

Recommended Posts

Just been informed that my local LADBROKES is to close resulting in 5 job losses

the bad news is I now have to walk another 100 yards to get to the other LADBROKES in my town

But why have 2 branches within this short distance is it something to do with the reduced stakes on the fobts 🤔

I guess they would have been open to bypass the 4 fobt in shop rule, basically open 2 shops a short walk apart and have double the amount of machines, problem is when the fobt takings are down they dont need two locations, as if you're going in for horses or footy you just wait an extra 30 seconds to be served.  Hopefully the staff weren't on zero hours and got a bit of a payoff.

Talking of ladbrokes shop closures I found it funny they have their advert based in Stockport when they actually closed their sole shop there 2/3 years ago.

That is exactly why they opened them in first place as mentioned above. They can only get 4 Fobts per shop. Here in Glasgow city centre they have Ladbrokes shops just for Fobts.

I measured on Google Maps the 4 ladbrokes shops in Chester and it's 0.8 miles to walk to them all. 0.3 from 1 to 2 and 0.5 to go 2 to 3 to 4.

Just goes to show how much £££ the bookies used to make on the FOBTS

True. But of course they were just ‘offering a service’ rather than taking advantage of problem gamblers...

Same here in Sutton, 4 Betfred in the same high Street, plus 2 LadbrokeS, 1 coral and 1 William Hill. 8 shops in 1 High Street.

We’ve only got a meagre 3 BetFreds in Southend high street. 2 Corals, and, in true Countdown style, 1 from everyone else....

A Corbett Sports closed in Chester not sure when but was very surprised as it was the final stop before the races so thought it would be mad busy over summer
