Gamstop

Hi guys,

asking for advice.

I had signed up myself and my main email address up to gamstop while saving to get a house. 9 months later I’ve signed up to a site with my new email.

I  subsequently deposit £100 and win 3.8k and now after  verifying  My account they have refused to pay as I was under gam stop.

I went with casinojoy through your link so I was hoping someone could advise. Other than telling me what a bellend I am and deserve to have it forfeit 🙂

Hi, my friends wife did exactly the same as you, she NEVER got paid out. Thry happily took her money while she lost 4K, she then won 12K and they refused to pay.

Honestly pal, I would count the money as lost.. BUT I would fight to try get it as much as you can. If you havent already told them you knew you signed up to gamstop, just tell them you forgot.. pleading ignorance is sometimes a match winner.

But yeah you shouldn't have relapsed into it as I assume you were spending far more before than you wanted. Dont fall back into the trap

I do not think it is wise to advocate dishonesty (under the veil of 'pleading ignorance') to someone with a gambling problem over a gambling issue.

My advice would be to ask yourself why you made the deposit and if you want to stop gambling.

Was it an entirely new site or one you had previously joined? A different debit card too, a different name, address?

Well I'd much rather he had the money in his account than the hundy in the bookies account

Yeah new site email address I’d just moved house too so full new address. It was because it was a casino under the brand of genesis which I had previously signed up with old email and that only came to light when verifying my account with them. Probably the same card details tho. I’ve messaged BBC watch dog see if they can do out.

My self exclusion expires in 2 months anyway so I would have been ‘happy’ to wait until that was up then log back in and withdraw but they’ve said it’s gone due to my deception?

Cheers for all the help/advice/Commiserations

Oh and I love gambling I just thought it prudent to self exclude myself for a year while I saved for a house deposit then even if I’m pissed I couldn’t gamble. It had worked really well so I massively approve of gamstop. Just super gutted about this situation now as 3.8k would be a help if a help with house items

OK, I called my workmate for you to find out exactly what happened with his wife. She did the same as you, self exclusion. She signed up months later with another casino but unknown to her it was affiliated. She lost 4k before winning 12k. They would not pay out. She contacted ombudsmen and the gambling commission, she eventually got her initial deposit back. NEVER GOT HER WINNINGS. Sorry. 😂

It should serve as a warning to those on the Gamstop scheme that it’s not worth trying to circumvent the exclusion as even if you win if you get found out you’ll still lose.

sorry for you as 3.8k is a great lift for anyone and to have it taken away must be gutting.

Funny how they failed to spot her as a self excluded player while losing 4k!

Anyway. There is positive stories from this sort of situation

Well-meaning if not well-thought.

Problem gamblers should be encouraged to be honest and responsible for their actions, not advised to tell lies and make excuses.

This situation should be approached with only honesty and acceptance of the outcome.

If problem gambling is to be taken seriously so should the self-exclusion. When signing up to GamStop an agreement is made which should be honoured.
