Making use of your winnings

Hi all, I don't know about you guys but I always try to buy something when I have a decent win. In the past year I bought a large screen TV and a couple of matching leather sofas for the lounge out of winnings. In the past I've bought a laptop, a new phone and stuff like that. A couple of years ago I bought a BMW from winnings, it was only a used 3 series but a nice enough motor. Past experience has taught me that if its sitting in the bank I'll only lose it back in the long run so it makes sense to have something to show for it. The most enjoyable time I had from a decent win was funding a trip to the Breeders Cup race meeting at Hollywood Park in California. We all lose in the long run but it's nice to look back on some good things to come out of gambling.

Anyone else care to share some happy stories.?

I think the biggest thing I ever bought from gambling winnings was a 100 something gig iPod over ten years ago.

I don’t play big stakes as much now, but I had a result on a £100 jackpot machine just before Christmas and bought myself and the missus a stinking hangover.

It doesn't matter the size of the win its just good that you can maybe afford to buy a little luxury item in one go rather than having to save up for a while. All of my larger wins have come from multiple horse racing bets but with the big jackpots being won on the online progressive slots these days my big wins look rather small.

Just looked at my amazon voucher and Since 2016 I have bought £1,225 amazon vouchers and I have only bought vouchers with winnings from machines at he time. I have also bought a couple £100 worth of steam vouchers too. Ive mainly bought computer games and keyboard and mice with it.  Also this is with small stakes too with betting more once I'm up.

The wife is the sole recipient of any winnings I might have and she uses it as she feels fit... It does stop us having to draw cash out of the bank for a while and gets us nights out for dinner or weekend breaks. But it doesn't happen that often.

Wish I would have done that with winnings over the years, whenever iv had big wins over the years all I'm thinking is that I want more and I keep it in the bank until eventually I lose it all(usually within weeks),I'm on a bit of a run again the last few weeks and have about 1500 in my spare account that I use for betting so I really should try and do something with it before it disappears back to the bookie, good luck guys

Fully understand, I’ve been there, done that. Slight deviation, but has anyone seen the Mitchell and Webb sketch about football? ‘It’ll never be decided who has finally won the football!’ David exclaims. It’s the same with gambling. You can’t win all the money in the world, if you keep playing then the only way is eventually down.

I stick with my £2 football bet. If I stick £2 in a FOBT then it’s gone in seconds. My bet will at least make it until 15:15, at which point I may as well stick my slip in the bin.

@Lee81 Bought that particular shirt many times mate, too many to count.

As De Niro said in Casino....

”The cardinal rule is to keep them playing and keep them coming back, the longer they play, the more they lose, and in the end, we get it all.”

Well I can't be the only one to have won a few quid on th FOBTs, anything from say £600 and UP, only to be told "we can't pay you out," it happened to me LOADS OF TIMES. And when I say LOADS OF TIMES, I MEAN LOADS OF TIMES. The most recent just before Christmas, I won £950 and the guy said he didn't have enough to pay me. I told him I would come back tomorrow, his reply, and I quote," you'll be lucky, better make it Monday" this was at 5pm Friday.

That's the best way to do it blindhaze and very true about the football sketch,iv always said a big win from the bookies is just like getting a loan off them,it always gets paid back eventually with interest

I once won 15k at the casino playing 5 card stud poker, the jackpot on the progressive pot was £150,000 if you got a royal flush you got 100%, straight flush was 10%. I used the money as a deposit on my first house, not had a win bigger than that in 15 years, but if I win £100 now I’ll treat myself to a Thai massage 😁
